Lyon, Lynne, LCSW / Center for Attachment & Trauma Therapy, LLC

The issues you face as an adoptive family are unique and challenging – and often misunderstood or minimized by health care professionals. The formation of a family through adoption is a complex event, containing joy and hope as well as grief, loss and trauma. As an adoptive parent, I am a professional who has the knowledge, skills and personal experience to help you navigate these issues and teach you "graduate level" parenting skills – skills above and beyond those learned from books, grandparents and school. My practice is not limited to adoptive families. I work with all families who are experiencing difficulty with communication and discipline. My approach is to help the parents be the agents of change for their children, to help them learn to empathize and listen, while at the same time creating and maintaining healthy limits so that children can feel safe, understood, and learn from their choices. I have been practicing attachment and family therapy since 2004, and have been an attachment advocate and educator since 1999. I am the founder of Attach-China / International Parent's Network (www.attach-china.org), and am a member of ATTACh and NASW.
