New Jersey MENTOR

New Jersey MENTOR believes that young people belong in homes, not facilities.  When they feel comfortable and safe at home—surrounded by people who care about them—they have greater opportunities to learn, grow and overcome challenges.

In New Jersey MENTOR's Specialty Group Home program, we go beyond the “traditional” set of services offered in group home settings.  We provide intensive services for youth with complex medical and behavioral challenges and focus on creating meaningful connections between staff and residents.  At New Jersey MENTOR, we want young people to like where they live—because when they do, they flourish.

Services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities:

  • Community Living Residences
  • Host Home program
  • Day programs
  • Hourly Support Services

Services for children and families:

  • Therapeutic Foster Care
  • Specialty Group Homes
  • Periodic Therapy Services
  • Second Chance

Caring Support and Intensive Therapy
Our Specialty Group Homes are designed for youth with intensive clinical needs and those who have been previously unsuccessful in more traditional residential settings. Under the 24-hour supervision of caring professionals, youth are given the guidance and tools they need to reconstruct their lives.  Our comprehensive and individualized treatment program includes:

  • Comprehensive assessments
  • Treatment planning and implementation
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Behavior modification
  • Recreation
  • Psycho-educational activities
  • Discharge planning

Skills to Succeed at Home and Beyond
In each of our homes, we offer personalized services and create opportunities for youth to develop physically, mentally and emotionally.  Throughout all our services, we focus on helping youth learn to manage the stresses of their lives so they can reach their potential.

New Jersey MENTOR group homes and our support go far beyond the walls of our Specialty Group Homes. Our staff works hard to help youth develop a network of community supports that includes neighbors, case managers, ministers, teachers, and family members.  At New Jersey MENTOR, we want to ensure that youth continue to be successful once they reach their permanency goals. Whether they reunify with families, transition into other community living programs, or move into their own home or apartment, we focus on giving them the skills they’ll need to lead healthy, stable lives.
