What is Music Therapy?
Music therapy is the specialized use of music by a credentialed professional who develops individualized treatment and supportive interventions with people of all ages and ability levels to address their social, communication, emotional, physical, cognitive, sensory, and spiritual needs. CBMT is the only organization to certify music therapists to practice music therapy nationally. It has been fully accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) since 1986. Over 4,900 music therapists currently maintain the MT-BC credential and participate in a program of re-certification designed to measure or enhance competence in the profession of music therapy.
